The Search Committee has put together a Position Profile, picking four major attributes with sub categories chosen from a computer list to indicate what the parish is looking for in a new rector. Here are the results of the computer-generated profile:
First Responsibility: Effective preaching, by making the Gospel relevant to peoples lives. Worship Leader for: Sunday Eucharist; Broad Church Services; Plan and design; Festivals and Gatherings.
Second Responsibility: Christian formation and education; Children's Ministry; Youth; Adult Programs; Faith Development
Third Responsibility: Pastoral care: the ability to nurture and sculpt people for growth within our community of care, including: Hospital calling; Terminally ill/ Dying; Visiting the homebound; Member Visitation.
Fourth Responsibility: Staff Administration; Multiple staff management; Local church administration; Budget and finance; Community involvement; Urban ministry; Hunger and poverty; Soup Kitchen; Food Pantry.

The first meeting of the Search Committee was held July 8th at the home of Rebecca Rogers and Jim Swager. All ten members of the committee as well as Rev. Ed Perkinson were present. First order of business will be to organize and collate all the information given on the questionnaires and forms filled out at the three parish meetings by those in attendance at the meetings. This will give us an rough outline of what parish members are seeking in a new rector. We respectfully request your prayers for wisdom and guidance throughout this process and are grateful for the honor and opportunity to serve our church in such a special way. Thank you.

Senior Warden Mara Amedia officially named the Search Committee at the June 8 Vestry meeting. The committee is to “represent the St. John's Episcopal Church congregation in completing the process of screening and interviewing candidates and making a recommendation to the vestry of one candidate for the calling of Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church.” The parishioners named are Brian Boyer, Mary Chisholm, Barbara Faires, Jim Griffith, Denise Johnson, Nancy Morris, Hobie Lambert, Ray Rogers, Rebecca Rogers, and Cathy Stigliano.
