When those in need knocked on our doors seeking food, the sexton responded by stocking nonperishable items and distributing them. As requests became more frequent, the distribution was changed to an organized monthly program.
The Red Door Food Pantry fills grocery bags with basic necessities and passes them out at a regularly scheduled date and time each month. The program is publicized to Red Door Café patrons and local relief agencies.
A dedicated committee of volunteers worked hard to get this program off the ground, and now it is running smoothly. The program is supported by grants and supplemented by donations of groceries from parishioners and bulk purchases from the Second Harvest Food Bank.
