Bloom Where You Are Planted.
Joseph seems to be a regular guy that falls into unfortunate circumstances through no fault of his own but is able to turn things around in each case because he is faithful to God. No matter where he is or what his position he tries to please God and God makes whatever he does to prosper.
I usually throw alyssum into my garden each year. I like the little plant and smiled one day seeing a bright pretty alyssum growing right in the middle of my driveway and another thriving in a stony patch. Now these two had to struggle extra hard to do their thing while the ones in my garden had it easy with good soil, fertilizer, sunshine, mulch, and regular watering. But it didn't matter these two didn't have any of those benefits; they did what they were supposed to do anyway.... smell good; look pretty; and brighten the little patch where they lived.
I think that is what we are supposed to do. Regardless of our lot, and, yes, maybe our neighbor does have it easier... doesn't matter. I think we are made to glorify God and we should do just that... anytime, anyplace and anywhere by whatever means we are given. I think that makes God smile.
