The Holy Spirit is our comforter. I believe this with all my heart.
Paul spoke of a secret wisdom given to those who believe in God's loving grace and mercy.
Death has visited our family on both sides in the past two and a half years, five times in total.
Without the secret wisdom that Paul talks about, i.e., the constant presence of the Holy Spirit, we may have become bitter and allowed the darkness of unbelief to take control of our minds and hearts. We would be no good to anyone and would never be happy, never able to serve God in our lives.
But thanks be to God, we have love and joy to give, and the knowledge that love has lifted us.
As the old Methodist hymn goes,
“Love lifted me — when nothing else could help, Love lifted me.”
